Basketball · Small Forward
CURVA Coach understands exactly what Small Forward demands physically. Your programme is built around those demands — not a generic template.
Get my CoachThe four physical qualities that define performance at this position — and why they matter.
Small forwards are asked to guard multiple positions and contribute across all areas of the court. The programme develops both the speed to play in space and the strength to compete in the post — the rare combination that defines the best small forwards.
Finishing athletically at the rim, competing on the glass and shot-blocking all require a high vertical jump. Plyometric training and jump development are built into the programme to improve athleticism in the key areas where small forwards compete.
Small forwards are often asked to do more than any other position — guarding quicker players on one possession and bigger players on the next. The aerobic base built through the programme sustains the energy levels needed to be effective across multiple roles.
Moving between offensive and defensive ends, tracking fast break opportunities and getting back in position require athletic transition speed. Conditioning for repeated sprint scenarios and reactive agility in open-court situations are built into the programme.
A Small Forward doesn't need the same programme as a Point guard. CURVA Coach builds around the specific demands of your position — then layers in your schedule, your body and any niggles you're carrying.
Every two weeks, your coach reviews your progress and updates your programme. It adapts across pre-season, in-season and recovery so you're always doing the right work at the right time.
And if you have questions — about movement, nutrition, an injury niggle — your coach is available 24/7 in the app.
