Basketball · Shooting Guard
CURVA Coach understands exactly what Shooting Guard demands physically. Your programme is built around those demands — not a generic template.
Get my CoachThe four physical qualities that define performance at this position — and why they matter.
Creating space for pull-up jumpers and driving lanes requires explosive acceleration from stationary and moving positions. The programme develops the first-step speed that makes shooting guards difficult to guard in isolation and in transition.
Finishing over defenders, shooting over hands and competing on the glass all require a developed vertical jump. Plyometric work and jump-specific training are built into the programme to maximise vertical and contact athleticism.
Maintaining shooting mechanics when being fouled or contested requires upper body strength and core stability. The programme builds the physical foundation to shoot consistently even when taking contact — the quality that converts shooting ability into points.
Shooting guards spend significant time moving without the ball — cutting, running routes and creating space. Lateral agility, change of direction speed and the conditioning to sustain movement off the ball across 40 minutes are built into the programme.
A Shooting Guard doesn't need the same programme as a Point guard. CURVA Coach builds around the specific demands of your position — then layers in your schedule, your body and any niggles you're carrying.
Every two weeks, your coach reviews your progress and updates your programme. It adapts across pre-season, in-season and recovery so you're always doing the right work at the right time.
And if you have questions — about movement, nutrition, an injury niggle — your coach is available 24/7 in the app.
